Treating Your Dog’s Itchy Skin

Having a dog with itchy, flaky skin is never a fun situation. Your dog is miserable and you feel bad for him. There are some things you can do to help relieve his skin problems without going to the vet. The first thing you should try is a moisturizing shampoo.

It is important not to use shampoos made for people on your dog. The pH levels in people products will most likely just make your dog itch more than before. You can find some great moisturizing shampoos in the pet section of most retailers. Look for products which include oatmeal to help sooth his skin and make him healthier.

Another option is to feed your dog one raw egg a day. Raw eggs will help improve his skin and make his coat shinier. And dogs love eggs. Just put one egg in with his food in the morning but be sure not to leave it sit in the bowl all day. The egg could go bad and make your dog sick. It is best to put a small amount of food in the bowl with the egg and once he has eaten that, feed him his usual amount.

If these two remedies do not work, look online for a Pet Meds dealer. You can usually find the same products your vet will give you but at a much cheaper price. The quality is the same and you will even find the same brand names. Many times, the shipping is free and you can have the meds within a few days.

Of course, if you don’t see any improvement in your dog, be sure to take him to the vet to get checked out. There is always the possibility of a more serious problem.
